In Feb. 2020 a major renovation has taken place. The whole main house has been redisigned. Brobyværk Kro appears contemporary and modern, but with lots of authenticity from its fantastic history. The heart of the house is the bar. It is the place to meet just to meet. The iconic oak bar and comfortable leather stools invites you to explore the large selection of coffee, beer, wine, juices and cocktails. From the heart of the Inn there is direct access to the restaurant. The restaurant has a large east-facing window with a view to our beautiful terrace and the enchanting sight of the church and Odense river. In the a la carte restaurant we serve both lunch and dinner.
The modernization of the Inn has kept in mind to preserve parts of the house that tell a little about the its long and great history. A large find under the old ceiling were the old beams, which are now exposed. The floors are also preserved, but so freshly cut, that you do not see the many footprints from decades of travelers – but we know they have been there. Emphasis has been placed on comfortable lighting with dimmed spots and a consistent brass theme on lamps for cozy lighting. And because the Inn’s new owner is a gardener, we promise that the house will always be adorned with lots of green elements – both inside and on the sunny terrace.
In these surroudings, food is served with a passion for the classic Danish kitchen, inspired by the modernized surroundings and times. Brobyværk Kro’s kitchen is also inspired by French brasserie, with dishes that are sufficiently rustic that they belong in an authentic Inn in contemporary development.
Whether you come for lunch or dinner, or just to stop by, there is the opportunity to have a beer, cocktail or other refreshment at the bar or enjoy the house’s selection of coffee.
